| If you are looking at this alarm means you need one. On Tuesday 2nd January my wife and I with our 4 week old son returned from a week with my mother at Christmas. We turned the heating on and finally relaxed in front room with our son. We were dozing off when this alarm went off which was above fireplace. The emergency gas leak engineer said our back boiler had become blocked and fumes were staying in the room. I am just very relieved that I got this a few weeks before Christmas and dread to think of consequences. This alarm is simple to use. Just insert batteries and place in room. IF YOU DON'T BUY THIS ALARM THEN AT LEAST BY A DIFFERENT ONE. |

| From ordering to delivery, found it was very quick. Unfortunately larger packaging than expected and had to collect from the post office. Instructions for fitting and correct positioning in the home were very clear. Initially had one installed in the ceiling by a cowboy and would have perished if there had been Co in the house as the gas rises only mid way between floor to ceiling! |
Great device - it could save your life

I bought one of these recently. It comes in a clear plastic blister pack with instructions, screws, mounting bracket and batteries. Out of the pack it looks just like a smoke detector, and is fitted the same way. It took a couple of minutes to install. It goes on the wall, held by two screws. You mount the bracket on the wall, and then slot the detector into it. The device can be reremoved easily if necessary, though the battery compartment is on the front panel. I fitted mine at the top of the staircase.
Just like a smoke detector, it has test and reset buttons. The green light flashes every 30 seconds so you know it is working. It is not intrusive at all.
Just as I would not live in a house without a smoke detector, I would not be without a CO detector. |

| The detector is good quality and was delivered promptly. It's easy to install with good instructions. It alarms at different CO levels depending on the length of time its exposed to the gas, so should avoid false alarms. We placed it in the utility room where the central heating boiler is and feel more confident now we have got it.Kidde 9CO-5UK Carbon Monoxide Detector |
CO protection

Smoke alarms are not enough. Although I cannot say anything about the technical performance, I am pleased I finally bought a CO alarm. It is somewhat more expensive than a smoke alarm but does the essential job of monitoring poisonous carbon monoxide (CO) levels. You cannot smell CO but it could kill.
If you regularly suffer from headaches and flue-like symptoms, it may be due to accumulating CO levels in your house from faulty boilers or stoves. A sensor like this will warn you about this.
This is a valuable addition to the conventional smoke alarm. It is easy to set-up and fix to a wall in its cradle (so that it is easily detachable to check or put new batteries in). Worth having for peace of mind. |

Carbon Monoxide is now the the most toxic substance you will come into contact with in your daily life for example you could come into contact with carbon monoxide in work, garage, car, caravan, home or on a boat.
Hundreds of fatalities are occuring every year due to Carbon Monoxide poisoning and just a small amount of Carbon Monoxide is needed to kill you, you are at risk especially in your own home from gas appliances.
Symptoms that you may be suffering from to indicate that you may be at risk of CO poisoning, include suffering from headaches, nausea, and fatigue, these symptoms are often mistaken for the 'flu due to the deadly gas going undetected in your home, unless of course you have a Carbon Monoxide detector installed. Prolonged exposure can lead to brain damage and even death.
